Why does my carburettor leak petrol from the overflow pipe?

A carburettor that leaks petrol from the overflow pipe usually means the float valve isn’t sealing properly. This can be caused by a worn needle tip, dirt in the seat, or incorrect float height.

If ignored, fuel overflow can wash down into the engine oil, causing serious damage. The fix is to strip the carb, clean all components, and fit a new float valve.

That’s where a carburettor refurbishment or rebuild service comes in. With fresh seals, new float valves, and ultrasonic cleaning, your carb will run clean, leak-free, and safe.
