Why does my bike cut out when I stop?

If your motorcycle stalls the moment you pull up to a junction or let go of the throttle, your carburettors are likely the cause. A sudden cut-out at idle points to a fuelling imbalance, either too little fuel reaching the pilot circuit or an idle mixture set too lean.

When fuel evaporates inside the pilot jets, it leaves a hard varnish deposit that restricts flow. The result is poor idling, hesitation, and stalling as soon as the throttle closes. Incorrect float height or sticking slides can make the problem worse by throwing off the mixture at low RPM.

At The Carb Shack, we fix this problem the right way. We strip the carbs completely, ultrasonically clean every passage, and rebuild them with fresh O-rings, gaskets, and jets. Then we set the float height, idle mixture, and synchronisation to factory specification so your bike idles steadily and doesn’t die when you stop.

If you’re constantly blipping the throttle to stop it cutting out, it’s not “just how the bike is.” It’s a carburettor issue that needs proper servicing. Book a professional clean and rebuild with The Carb Shack and enjoy a bike that idles as smoothly as it rides.
